Eight-year-old Divyansh Shukla from Bahraich district found a place in the Yogasana Book of World Record Council for performing 'Shirshasana (Yoga Headstand)' for 44 minutes and 1 second.
Rekordman, a Class 2 student of Ajeejpur Primary School, Banda, who suffers from leg deformity, said he felt good when he was recognized at a young age. His school principal Rajesh Kumar Verma, who trained Divyansh, said, “He practiced headstand yoga for almost two years. It is a matter of pride as he has found a place in the Yogasana World Book Council.
Divyansh entered the record books on January 22 in the presence of a district level officer. "I have been exercising regularly for a few years. It helped me maintain my fitness, my blood circulation and increase the oxygen carrying capacity of my blood.” He said that a lot depended on regular exercise and physical endurance.
Bahraich District Magistrate, Dinesh Chandra said, “I also do yoga regularly. It is my hobby. The aim is to motivate students of the Department of Basic Education. Usually people focus more on English medium schools. My initiative is aimed at encouraging and motivating public school students. We recently organized this event to promote yoga. I am glad that Divyansh has created this unique record. Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Bahraich, AR Tiwari said that more such events would be held in the coming days to keep the students fit and healthy.
Divyansh's father Sanjay Kumar Shukla works in a garment shop while mother Meera Shukla is a housewife. "It's a proud moment for the whole family. We have been getting a lot of phone calls after he entered the record books,” said Sanjay.
