Nine-year-old Shreyovi Mehta from Faridabad, near Delhi, has been named the runner-up in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, hosted by the Natural History Museum (NHM) in London. The young photographer, who is a Class Five student, captured an enchanting image of two peafowl during a morning walk with her parents in the Keoladev National Park, Rajasthan.

The photograph, titled "In the Spotlight," features two peahens gracefully silhouetted under a canopy of trees, creating a mesmerizing scene. Shreyovi's keen eye for nature and quick reflexes helped her capture this moment after she spotted the peahens and rushed to her father, who was carrying the camera equipment. She lay on the ground to get the perfect angle, resulting in the award-winning shot.

Her entry was among nearly 60,000 photographs submitted by participants of all ages and experience levels from 117 countries. Shreyovi's accomplishment in the “10 Years and Under” category of the 60th edition of this competition has gained international recognition, showcasing her exceptional talent at such a young age.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is one of the most prestigious awards in the field, celebrating the beauty and diversity of the natural world through the lens of photographers worldwide.
