Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been permitted to use the sweetener erythritol instead of white sugar, as confirmed by Delhi Minister Atishi, amid allegations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that Kejriwal was consuming sweet foods to manipulate his blood sugar levels. Atishi clarified that Kejriwal, who has been battling diabetes for 30 years and requires 54 units of insulin daily, has been using erythritol, a low-calorie sweetener prescribed by his doctor, in his tea.

In response to ED's assertion that Kejriwal consumed bananas to spike his blood sugar levels, Atishi explained that bananas are recommended for diabetic patients to prevent life-threatening drops in blood sugar, as per a court order. She also dismissed ED's claim of Kejriwal eating 'alu-puri' daily, stating that he only had it on the first day of Navratri as per tradition. Atishi expressed concern over Tihar authorities allegedly withholding insulin from Kejriwal despite his sugar levels remaining high around 300.
