In a statement released by the regional headquarters of the Meteorological Department in Alipore, it has been revealed that Bengal is experiencing record-breaking heat. Kolkata witnessed its hottest day of the season, with the maximum temperature soaring to 41.6 degrees Celsius, six degrees above the normal average. Additionally, the minimum temperature reached 29.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees higher than the usual range. The scorching temperatures are not limited to Kolkata, as areas including Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, and Murshidabad are facing temperatures ranging from 32 to 43 degrees Celsius.

The intense heat has left residents feeling miserable, with no respite in sight as similar weather conditions are expected to persist throughout the week. Heat waves are forecasted for several districts in South Bengal, with no indication of rainfall. Even in North Bengal, districts like Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Kalimpong are reeling under scorching temperatures.
