With rising temperatures leading to extreme heat, Durgapur Forest in Burdwan division has initiated proactive steps to ensure the well-being of its wildlife. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, forest officer of Durgapur forest range, stated, "The deer in the reserve are being fed ORS every morning and afternoon. Raw vegetables, watermelons are being given in the afternoon." This measure aims to mitigate the impact of scorching temperatures on the approximately 100 deer, over 500 peacocks, blue cows, porcupines, and other rare animals residing in the Kanksar Deul Reserve.

Moreover, similar efforts are being extended to the Jhadkhali Tiger Rescue Centre, where tigers are receiving ORS and additional cooling measures. Bandyopadhyay elaborated, "To keep them cool, a stand fan has been installed in front of the cage and they are being given ORS." These initiatives seek to alleviate the effects of the heatwave on the wildlife population, ensuring their continued health and safety amidst challenging climatic conditions.
