The Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken action against BJP leader Dilip Ghosh and Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, issuing show cause notices for their derogatory remarks targeting prominent female figures. Ghosh's comments directed towards West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Shrinate's remarks against BJP's Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut were flagged by the poll body as 'undignified and in bad taste'. The notices come as a response to concerns regarding the language and tone used by political leaders during election campaigns.

In its notices, the ECI cited the remarks made by Ghosh against CM Mamata Banerjee and Shrinate's comments targeting Kangana Ranaut as violations of the Model Code of Conduct, which prohibits the use of derogatory language or personal attacks during electioneering. Both leaders have been given a stipulated period to respond to the notices and provide explanations for their remarks.
