In Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district as the decomposed bodies of an elderly couple were uncovered inside their locked residence under the Dewa police station. The tragic incident came to light on Sunday evening, prompting police investigations into a suspected case of double murder. Initial findings suggest that the couple, identified as Majid Hussain Warsi, 65, and Mashrat Jahan, 62, residents of Badaun, might have met their untimely demise approximately five days prior, as their bodies exhibited advanced decomposition and signs of insect infestation. According to Barabanki Circle Officer (CO) City, Jagat Ram Kannaujia, the assailants are suspected to have struck the victims on their heads with a blunt object, indicating a premeditated act of violence.
The deceased couple, who had recently relocated to Dewa after purchasing a house eight months ago, had ties to Badaun and familial connections scattered across different cities. While Majid was involved in both mattress and real estate businesses, their children resided in Delhi, Faridabad, and Aligarh, indicating a dispersed familial network. The absence of forced entry suggests that the assailants may have been acquainted with the victims, prompting further scrutiny into possible motives behind the heinous crime. As investigations continue and the post-mortem report is awaited, the community remains in shock over the tragic loss of the elderly couple.
