"Bengal defamed in the name of Sandeshkhali": Abhishek Banerjee
In Motihari city's residential area, criminals masquerading as Crime Branch police officers duped a gold businessman. Two individuals approached Om Sai Jewelers shop near Bank of Baroda on the main city road, presenting themselves as law enforcement officials. Exploiting the shop owner's trust, Paras Prasad Swarnakar, the criminals instilled fear by posing as Crime Branch officers.
Swarnakar, complying with the false authority, handed over valuable jewelry, including a neck chain, diamond-studded locket, diamond jewelry, and a gold ring, for inspection. The estimated value of the defrauded jewelry amounts to approximately Rs 5 lakh. Upon realization of the deceit, Swarnakar promptly reported the incident to the city police station, leading to the registration of an FIR. Motihari Sadar ASP Shikhar Chaudhary initiated an investigation into the matter and reviewed CCTV footage from the shop to identify the perpetrators.
