Woman in critical condition after jumping in front of metro at Kavi Nazrul station
Actor Ranveer Singh has taken legal action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) after an AI-generated deepfake video, purportedly from Kashi, went viral on social media platforms. The video depicts Singh criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, alleging that the ruling party celebrates the pain and problems faced by the people of the country. Confirming the legal step, Singh's spokesperson issued a statement, stating, "Yes, we have filed the police complaint and FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh."
The FIR, filed based on Singh's police complaint, has been registered by the Cyber Crime Cell for further investigation. The manipulated video features Singh urging voters to support the right party, with the tagline 'Vote For Congress' flashing on the screen. However, discrepancies in the video, including mismatched lip movements and reused footage from Singh's recent visit to Kashi, where he praised PM Modi for developments in the city, indicate its falsified nature.
In the authentic video, Singh expresses admiration for PM Modi's efforts in promoting the weaver community of Varanasi and transforming the city's landscape. Prior to taking legal action, Singh cautioned his followers on Instagram, writing, "Deepfake se bacho doston" ("Beware of deepfakes, friends"). Meanwhile, professionally, Singh is set to appear in Farhan Akhtar's "Don 3" alongside Kiara Advani, with "Singham Again" also on his agenda.
