In a move to accommodate the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, school holidays have been extended, now totaling 22 days. The summer holidays for schools have been elongated to coincide with the election period, with schools scheduled to remain closed from May 6th to June 2nd. This decision aligns with the electoral schedule, which commences with the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state starting from April 19th.
To facilitate the electoral process, specific regions will observe school closures during different phases of the elections. For the first phase, schools in Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri will be closed from April 16th to 20th. Similarly, schools in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Dinajpur will remain closed from April 24th to 27th for the second phase. The Board of Secondary Education has also issued notifications in accordance with these adjustments to ensure a smooth conduct of both electoral and educational activities.
