A woman, identified as Angel Harding, recounted feeling "hurt" and "humiliated" after she and her friend were reportedly asked to leave an Air New Zealand flight for being deemed "too big". The incident unfolded on a flight from Napier to Auckland, where a flight attendant allegedly tried to forcibly lower the armrest between them before asking them to disembark.

Harding shared her experience, stating that the flight attendant went on to announce over the loudspeaker that the flight was returning to the airport due to an "inconvenience" caused.

"After [the attendant] hung up the phone, she came over and said, 'You two should have booked four seats. You two should have bought two seats each'," Harding recounted.

The women demanded compensation for the emotional toll of the incident, citing "hurt, humiliation, and trauma" they experienced.

In response to the incident, an Air New Zealand spokesperson addressed the matter, stating that customers needing extra room are accommodated if space permits. The airline recommended for passengers to contact them ahead of travel regarding any additional space requirements for a comfortable journey.
