A nationwide protest has been launched by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and leaders, observing a one-day fast in solidarity with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The party announced this protest action on social media, stating that the entire nation will fast against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal starting at 10 a.m. today.
AAP has also encouraged activists to share their pictures from the fast on a designated website, amplifying the reach of their demonstration against Kejriwal's arrest.
Taking to social media, AAP leader and Delhi Minister Atishi expressed, "Today, Delhi and the entire country are fasting against authoritarianism. In protest against Kejriwal Ji's arrest, people in 25 states are observing a fast," underlining the widespread support for the movement.
AAP workers and leaders in Punjab have also organized hunger strikes near district headquarters across the state. Additionally, a one-day fast will be held at Khatkar Kalan, a historically significant battleground renowned for its pivotal role in the fight against British colonialism. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is slated to participate in the demonstration.
