Trinamool General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was faced with public protests during his visit to Sattari village in the Englishbazar block of the district on Thursday.
Villagers stopped Abhishek's car and started protesting against the alleged embezzlement of crores of rupees by the head and deputy head of the Binodpur zone. They demanded the removal of Block Trinamool President and Zilla Parishad Education Officer Pratibha Singh, whom they accused of corruption, along with local panchayat members who did not get tickets in the upcoming panchayat elections.
The villagers submitted a written complaint to Abhishek Banerjee, who listened to their grievances and calmed them down after explaining the situation.
This incident comes after allegations of voting irregularities and rigging in Abhishek Banerjee's 'Trinamool Nabjoar' program in Chanchal on Wednesday, which has sparked speculation about increased factionalism within the party.
