Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee did not appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Bhabani Bhavan on Monday despite being summoned for questioning in connection with a signature dispute case. According to party and police sources, Banerjee sent a letter to the investigating agency stating that he was unable to appear due to ill health. He had been directed to report to the CID headquarters at 12:00 PM on Monday as part of the ongoing investigation.
Sources close to Banerjee stated that he continues to suffer from health-related complications and is experiencing pain around his right jaw, neck, and chest. Citing these medical issues, he informed the CID of his inability to attend the questioning. He is currently resting at his residence. Banerjee was recently involved in an incident on Saturday while meeting individuals affected by post-poll violence.
