Bhangar's Ghatpukur area witnessed chaos and smoke as a fierce struggle unfolded between Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Trinamool supporters over nominations for the upcoming Navajwar Yatra. Hundreds of bombs were allegedly thrown, and reports of firing have also surfaced.
Throughout the day, Bhangar-2 block was engulfed in bomb blasts related to the nomination process. Despite Section 144, clashes erupted in front of the BDO office between ISF and Trinamool, leading to accusations of indiscriminate shelling and firing. Police responded by releasing tear gas and resorting to lathi charge, but faced brick-pelting and targeted bomb attacks.
An ISF worker emotionally accused Trinamool of preventing them from submitting nominations, alleging that Trinamool supporters were involved in firing incidents. The candidate's nomination was allegedly obstructed. Additionally, reports indicate that bombs were heard near the BDO office, with Trinamool Congress supporters being accused of attacks and vandalism in the Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas.
