Abhishek slaps 10-crore defamation notice on Madan Mitra over 'murderer' jibe
Addressing the July 21 Martyrs' Day event organized near Birla Planetarium, Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee issued a stern warning against those filing false cases, stating he would "return it with interest." Speaking to supporters at the 'Kalighat' Trinamool gathering, he declared that he would respond to those filing political cases in the exact language they understand.
Abhishek Banerjee also took sharp jabs at the rival 'Ritabrata Trinamool' faction holding a parallel rally nearby at Mayo Road. Mocking the turnout at the rival venue, the MP claimed that more people gather when JCB machines dig soil in rural villages than the crowd present at the Mayo Road meeting, questioning where their workers and public support had gone.
Reaffirming the core identity of the party, Banerjee asserted that wherever Mamata Banerjee is present, the public follows, calling her the true root of the Trinamool Congress. He added that acts of treason or dishonesty would not succeed in weakening the party, but would instead make the Trinamool Congress even stronger.
