ACB summons AAP leaders Sisodia and Jain in 2000 crore clasroom scam case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued summonses to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain in connection with an alleged ₹2,000 crore scam related to the construction of classrooms in government schools. This development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities.

Minister Satyendar Jain has been directed to appear before the ACB office on June 6th, while Manish Sisodia has been asked to present himself in court on June 9th. These summonses indicate that the ACB is moving forward with its probe and seeking direct responses from the implicated ministers.

The ACB's action follows a complaint filed by several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana, BJP MLA Kapil Mishra, and Neelkanth Bakshi from the BJP's Media Relations Department were among those who complained to the AAP ministers.

The core of the accusation revolves around allegations that the AAP ministers inflated costs for constructing semi-permanent classrooms. This claim suggests a deliberate manipulation of project expenses, leading to the alleged ₹2,000 crore scam.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Shweta Singh Chauhan, the investigation into the case has uncovered substantial evidence. The probe revealed "massive cost escalations and violations of procurement rules," indicating serious financial irregularities.

Furthermore, Chauhan stated that the investigation found connections between 34 contractors and the Aam Aadhu Party (AAP). This alleged link between the contractors and the ruling party in Delhi adds another layer to the corruption allegations and could suggest a broader network involved in the purported scam.
