The issue centres on his marital status, where he has listed Anindita Chatterjee as his wife while stating that they are “separated.” The disclosure has triggered a public dispute after Anindita questioned the claim, alleging that no legal divorce has taken place.

The controversy intensified when Anindita raised objections publicly, asking how she could be described as separated without formal legal proceedings. She claimed that she had not received any official divorce notice, raising questions about the accuracy of the affidavit.
