Actor Rohit Basfore of ‘Family Man 3’ found dead in suspicious circumstances near waterfall; Family alleges murder

Rohit Basfore, an actor who was set to appear in the upcoming third season of Family Man, was found dead on Sunday evening near the Garbhanga waterfall in Assam's Rani region. Basfore, a resident of Guwahati who had recently moved back from Mumbai, had gone on a day trip with friends to the waterfall. His family lost contact with him around 12:30 PM on Sunday, and after hours of worry, they were informed by a friend that his body had been found. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Initial reports from authorities suggested that Basfore had drowned, but further investigation has raised concerns about the circumstances of his death. Multiple injuries were discovered on his body, including wounds to his head and face. These findings prompted police to widen their investigation, suspecting foul play. A post-mortem examination was carried out at Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Monday, with officials confirming the presence of these injuries.

The incident occurred in the afternoon, around 2:00 PM, when Basfore and a group of friends had been picnicking near the waterfall. Officers from the Rani Police Outpost responded to the incident after receiving the report at approximately 4:00 PM. The SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) team arrived at the location by 4:30 PM and recovered Basfore’s body at around 6:30 PM. Despite the initial theory of drowning, the investigation into his death has now taken a different turn.

Rohit Basfore's family has raised concerns about possible foul play, linking his death to a recent altercation involving a parking dispute. The family has named several individuals—Ranjit Basfore, Ashok Basfore, and Dharam Basfore—as being involved in the dispute. Additionally, Amardeep, a gym owner who had reportedly invited Rohit to the outing, has been named a person of interest by the family. Authorities have confirmed that they are pursuing this lead but have not made any arrests.
