Adani Group to build 2,000-bed super-specialty hospital in New Town, announces CM Suvendu

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that the Adani Group has committed in writing to building a state-of-the-art 2,000-bed world-class hospital in New Town. Making the announcement during an interactive session with the civil society organized by the Alipur Nagrik Samiti in his Bhabanipur assembly constituency, the Chief Minister provided an account of his government's initial two months in office. Out of the proposed 2,000 beds, 1,000 beds will be completely reserved for free or subsidized treatment for the poor, while the remaining 1,000 beds will be operated on a commercial basis.

This landmark development marks the Adani Group's entry into the state's healthcare sector, following their previous unfulfilled interest in developing the Tajpur Deep Sea Port under the erstwhile administration. Medical experts and economic analysts believe that this mega-hospital project will open new horizons for the state's healthcare framework and generate significant direct and indirect employment opportunities. The investment is being viewed as a critical step toward rebuilding West Bengal's industrial image, which suffered a prolonged stagnation in major industrial investments over the last fifteen years.

During his address to prominent industrialists and dignitaries, Chief Minister Adhikari actively called upon investors to bring specific developmental proposals to West Bengal, assuring them of full state cooperation regarding land clearances and administrative support. He emphasized that the state possesses all the necessary facilities and amenities to support massive commercial enterprises, urging current business leaders to inspire others to invest. However, the Chief Minister explicitly added that maintaining a stable law-and-order environment and a safe societal atmosphere remains the administration's topmost priority to successfully sustain these incoming investments.
