Adhir Chowdhury calls CM Mamata’s Delhi protest and ‘Abar khela hobe’ a political stunt | Watch

Former Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her protest in Delhi and her slogan “Abar Khela Hobe” (The game will be played again). Banerjee staged the protest demanding the release of central funds allegedly withheld by the Union government. Chowdhury dismissed the move, claiming it was an attempt to divert attention from corruption allegations and administrative failures in Bengal.

Banerjee’s protest comes ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) accusing the central government of politically motivated financial discrimination against Bengal. The Chief Minister has repeatedly raised the issue of pending dues, particularly under schemes like MGNREGA and PM Awas Yojana. Meanwhile, Chowdhury alleged that “Abar Khela Hobe” was being used as a political tool rather than addressing governance issues. He also recalled that Congress had once supported TMC’s rise to power but claimed Banerjee later distanced herself from the party.

The Congress leader has consistently criticized Banerjee’s political stance, especially regarding alliances. During the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign, Chowdhury had stated, “I do not trust CM Mamata. She had fled the alliance. She had broken the alliance. Now that Congress is coming to power, Mamata has started lining up.” His remarks come amid growing political tensions, as TMC continues to position itself as a major opposition force against the BJP while keeping its distance from the Congress-led bloc.
