Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has criticised the West Bengal government over the controversy surrounding protocol during President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to the state. Speaking on the issue, Chowdhury said that the facilities and arrangements that should have been provided to the President were not adequately ensured. He described the situation as negligence on the part of the state administration.
According to the Congress leader, such lapses involving the country’s highest constitutional office should not occur and reflect poorly on the functioning of the government. The remarks come amid an ongoing political confrontation between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party over the matter. The controversy has triggered a war of words among political parties ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.
