Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s personal assistant (PA), Pradeep Rajpandit, has been arrested by the police. He is accused of impersonating an IAS officer and other government officials to commit fraud. The police arrested him from Haldia, West Bengal.
According to sources, Pradeep Rajpandit used to travel in a vehicle with a blue beacon and pretended to be a government officer to extort money from people. In several instances, he allegedly introduced himself as an IAS officer and took money from individuals. So far, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has not commented on Pradeep Rajpandit’s arrest.
The police are investigating his fraud network to determine how many people he has targeted. On Wednesday, Haldia Police stated that after his arrest, they have started closely monitoring all his activities. His phone records and bank transactions are also being examined. The police suspect that he exploited his political connections to deceive multiple individuals.
