High tension prevailed in the Nimta area after raw eggs were allegedly hurled at Dum Dum MP Saugata Roy during a protest in the locality. Slogans of “Thief! Thief!” were also raised against the Trinamool Congress leader, triggering chaos and unrest in the area. According to allegations, BJP workers and supporters were behind the protest demonstration targeting the MP. However, BJP sources denied any political involvement in the incident and claimed that the protest was carried out spontaneously by ordinary citizens allegedly frustrated over issues related to theft and corruption.
