Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A case of alleged sexual harassment involving a minor student has emerged from Agra, Uttar Pradesh. A 35-year-old coaching teacher, identified as Puneet, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after being accused of inappropriately touching a Class 10 student and pressuring her to make him her boyfriend. The incident took place at a coaching centre located near Nagla Budhi Chauraha in the New Agra police station area.
The student had been attending the coaching centre for the past ten months. Her father informed police that she had recently shown reluctance to attend classes. When asked, the student said that the teacher called her separately on the pretext of extra classes, sat close to her, and touched her inappropriately. She also alleged that Puneet asked her if she had a boyfriend, and when she replied no, he told her to make him her boyfriend.
Following the student’s disclosure, her family filed a written complaint at New Agra police station. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act. Police have initiated an investigation and are currently searching for the accused teacher. Officials confirmed that the student’s statement has been recorded and further inquiry is underway.
Preliminary information also suggests that Puneet may have harassed other students previously, but those incidents were never formally reported. The current case has raised concerns among parents and local residents. Police are also looking into possible past complaints or patterns of similar behaviour involving the accused.
