Air India today announced that it will hire more than 900 pilots and 4,200 cabin crew trainees by 2023 as part of its major expansion plan.
Earlier this month, the Tata-owned airline announced it had signed multibillion-dollar deals with France's Airbus and US planemaker Boeing to buy 470 passenger jets in the biggest buying deal in commercial aviation history. The price for the entire 470-plane deal would be between $70 billion and $80 billion.
The company has already announced plans to lease 36 aircraft, of which two Boeing 777-200LRs have already joined the fleet. Flight attendants will be recruited from across the country and undergo a 15-week training programme. Between May 2022 and February 2023, Air India has hired over 1,900 cabin crew.
“With the large aircraft order announced earlier in the month, more flights on international and domestic networks and the realignment of domestic routes with AIX connect, the cabin crew will play a critical role in shaping Air India's present and future.
