Air India Express started 4 direct Goa-Dubai flights on Monday. It is India's first international carrier.
The operation started at Goa International Airport. The first flight, flight number IX 840, with 148 passengers departed for Dabolim Airport at 1:00 am.
Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express and AirAsia India, said, “We are excited to launch our first international flights from Goa under the Air India Express banner, which is among India's most popular tourist destinations.
Singh said the airline prides itself on being the only airline to offer direct service to Dubai from Goa. AirAsia India, which is slated to merge with Air India Express, already operates 13 direct flights daily to/from Goa connecting the five domestic cities.
“We hope to be a part of the state's tourism success story and remain committed to offering the best services to our customers,” he added.
