Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has reportedly reduced his fees for the film OMG 2 after facing a series of box office failures
Charging Rs 35 crore, a significant decrease from his usual range of Rs 50-100 crore, Kumar aims to bounce back from disappointments with films like Ram Setu and Rakshabandhan
The Central Board of Film Certification is reviewing OMG 2's dialogues to avoid any potential controversies
Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, known for being one of the highest-paid actors in the industry, has reportedly reduced his fees for the upcoming film OMG 2 following a string of box office failures.
According to multiple reports, Kumar is charging Rs 35 crore for the film, a significant decrease compared to his usual pay range of Rs 50-100 crore.
Despite being one of the most popular faces in Hindi cinema and renowned for his versatility, Akshay Kumar faced disappointment at the box office last year. Films such as Ram Setu, Selfiee, Samrat Prithviraj, and Rakshabandhan failed to attract audiences to the theaters and were declared box-office failures.
In light of these setbacks, Kumar has apparently made a compromise by reducing his usual fees for OMG 2. His co-stars in the film, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, are reported to have charged Rs 5 crore and 2-3 crore, respectively, although the exact figures have not been confirmed.
To ensure the film avoids controversies and backlash, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has referred OMG 2 to the revising committee for a diligent review of the dialogues. The CBFC committee is taking preemptive measures following the recent backlash faced by the film Adipurush.
OMG 2 is scheduled to release in theaters on August 11 and serves as a sequel to the 2012 comedy-drama. Akshay Kumar has a packed schedule for the year, with upcoming films including Soorarai Pottru, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, and Hera Pheri 3.
The recently released teaser of OMG 2 received mixed reactions, with some praising the background music and visuals as brilliant, while others criticized the content as cringe-worthy and unimpressive.
