A 32-year-old man was found dead near the entrance of Chinsurah bus stand in Hooghly district. Locals first saw him lying face down on the roadside late Tuesday night and noticed he remained in the same position the next morning. They informed Chinsurah police, who reached the spot, rescued the man, and took him to Imambara Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to preliminary information, the deceased had been working at a local sweet shop. Ramesh Chaudhary, a worker from the shop, said, “I can identify the youth seen in the photo. He was working at our shop two-three days ago. We knew him as ‘Akash’.” The police have sent the body for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Locals claimed that the man was seen borrowing money from a few individuals in the area on Monday evening. Later that night, several people saw him lying by the roadside in what appeared to be an intoxicated state. On Wednesday morning, some residents noticed suspicious individuals lying unconscious nearby for an extended period, after which the police were alerted.
