The Supreme Court termed as "illegal" the Centre's two notifications granting an extension of service, each for one year, to Indian Revenue Service officer Sanjay Kumar Mishra as head of the Enforcement Directorate.

The verdict was welcomed by the Congress and other opposition parties.

However, in a long note shared on Twitter, Amit Shah hit out at all those rejoicing over the SC judgment, saying, “The amendments to the CVC Act which were duly passed by Parliament have been upheld. strike at those who are corrupt and on the wrong side of the law remain the same."

"The ED is an institution that transcends any individual and is focused on achieving its main objective - i.e. investigating money laundering and foreign exchange violations. So who is the director of the ED - it is not important because anyone assumes it." role notices the rampant corruption of a cozy club of entitled dynasts who have an anti-development mindset,” Amit Shah said in a note shared on Twitter.
