Union Home Minister Amit Shah kickstarted the election campaign for Madhya Pradesh at the BJP's divisional conference in Indore, where he launched a scathing attack on the Congress. Shah criticized the previous Congress-led government for failing to attract new industries and accused them of promoting a "transfer industry." He promised that the BJP's "double engine" government would propel Madhya Pradesh to become the country's top state.
Addressing the conference, Amit Shah praised the strong organizational presence of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, with the lotus symbol visible in every village and polling booth. He announced that similar conferences would be held in every division as the election of 2023 commenced.
The Home Minister further lauded the Prime Minister's decisive actions in dealing with security challenges, highlighting how the Indian Army eliminated terrorists in Pakistan after years of infiltration. He credited the removal of Article 370 for integrating Kashmir with the rest of the nation, a move that had been pending for 70 years during the Congress regime.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also took the stage and accused the Congress of ruining the state during its tenure. He pointed out that the central government's welfare schemes were stalled, and farmers were denied benefits like the Kisan Samman Nidhi. Chouhan emphasized the need to defeat Congress to seek justice for BJP workers who were allegedly harassed under the previous government. State President VD Sharma expressed confidence in winning Madhya Pradesh, citing the significance of the Malwa region in the electoral battle.
Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar highlighted the government's commitment to good governance and its positive impact on India's global reputation.
BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya accused the Congress of reneging on promises, citing the failure to waive farmers' loans and provide unemployment allowances to youths. In contrast, he asserted that the BJP government has delivered on its commitments.
