Union Home Minister Amit Shah's anticipated two-day visit to West Bengal on January 28 has been postponed, according to BJP Bengal president Sukanta Majumdar. While the new schedule for Shah's visit is yet to be announced, Majumdar confirmed that the location for the public meeting Shah was set to address will remain unchanged. Majumdar stated, "The schedule of our Home Minister is not cancelled but postponed. We all are aware that several political developments are happening nationally for which the programme will be postponed."
Shah's visit, initially scheduled for organizational meetings and public addresses, faced criticism from Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh. Ghosh remarked that frequent visits by BJP leaders ahead of elections won't impact the outcome, predicting continued support for TMC. While Shah's public meeting in Mecheda, East Midnapore, remains on the agenda, the exact timeline awaits the new schedule announcement. Shah's intended engagements included an organizational meeting in Kolkata on January 28, a public address in Mecheda on January 29, and discussions with intellectuals at Science City in Kolkata.
