Nikhil Nanda, the son-in-law of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, has been named in a fraud and abetment to suicide case filed by the Dataganj Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district. According to reports, the case was registered after a court’s directive, naming Nanda, who is the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of a tractor company, alongside several other officials from the company. The accused officials include the company’s UP head, area manager, sales manager, and a Shahjahanpur dealer.
The case revolves around the tragic death of Jitendra Singh, who owned Jai Kisan Traders, a tractor agency in Dataganj. Jitendra, originally running the business with his co-partner Lalla Babu, had to manage the agency alone after Babu was jailed due to a family dispute. Gyanendra, Jitendra’s brother, filed the complaint after his brother was allegedly pressured by Nikhil Nanda and other company officials to meet sales targets. They allegedly threatened to revoke his dealership license and auction his property if sales did not improve.
Jitendra’s family claims that the pressure mounted on him was overwhelming, and he confided in his family and friends about the distress he was under. Reports suggest that on November 21, 2024, company officials once again visited Jitendra’s agency and reportedly increased the pressure. The next day, on November 22, 2024, Jitendra tragically ended his life. His family has accused the police of failing to take action initially, with the situation only moving forward after the court intervened.
The complaint specifically names Nikhil Nanda along with several key officials of the tractor company, including Ashish Baliyan (area manager), Sumit Raghav (sales manager), Dinesh Pant (UP head), Pankaj Bhaskar (financier collection officer), Amit Pant (sales manager), Neeraj Mehra (sales head), and Shishant Gupta (Shahjahanpur dealer). They are all accused of pressuring Jitendra to meet impossible sales quotas and threatening to revoke his dealership if targets were not met. These actions are believed to have contributed to his extreme stress and eventual suicide.
Jitendra’s father, Shiv Singh, expressed that he was unaware of Nikhil Nanda’s connections and held the company responsible for his son’s death. “I don’t know who he is. We want justice,” Singh reportedly said. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and the police station in-charge has confirmed that all accused parties are being examined. Nikhil Nanda is also known for being part of the prominent Kapoor family, with his maternal uncles being Rishi Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor, and Randhir Kapoor, and his cousins including stars like Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
