Jr Doctors announce 'hunger strike' from today, says demands not met
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan took to social media on Sunday to announce the digital release of his critically-acclaimed 2005 film, "Black," on Netflix. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie marks 19 years since its original release. "Black" is based on the real-life story of Helen Keller, featuring Rani Mukerji as a blind and deaf woman, with Bachchan portraying the role of Debraj, her teacher.
In a post on his X page, Bachchan shared the film's trailer and expressed his hope that the inspiring journey of Debraj and Michelle in "Black" would provide strength and compassion to viewers. The film, lauded for its powerful performances, earned Bachchan his second National Film Award for Best Actor. Additionally, "Black" received two more National Awards in the categories of Best Feature Film in Hindi and Costume Design for Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming web series, "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," is also set to premiere on Netflix later this year.
