Amritsar women send 'thread of thanks' rakhis to PM Modi for 'Operation Sindoor'

In a unique show of support ahead of Raksha Bandhan, hundreds of women from various walks of life in Amritsar gathered on Friday to send 'Rakhis' to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The women described the gesture as a "thread of thanks," a symbolic act of gratitude for PM Modi's leadership and his strong stance against terrorism. They specifically hailed "Operation Sindoor," which they said was a befitting reply to acts of terror and a decisive action that showed India's resolve to not tolerate cross-border aggression.

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, who was present at the event, emphasized the emotional significance of the gathering, stating that it reflected a "special bond PM Modi shares with the women of the nation." He added that the event was not merely a festive celebration but a powerful message of unity and gratitude from the people of Amritsar. The women's gesture comes in the context of "Operation Sindoor," a calibrated military response by India that utilized high-tech systems and precision strikes to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan following a deadly attack on civilians.

During the event, Chugh also took the opportunity to criticize the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of attempting to seize farmers' land with its new policies. He announced that a statewide protest movement would be launched after August 19, under the leadership of Punjab BJP President Ashwani Sharma, to fight against what he called the "unjust" land grab. The 'Rakhi' event, which took place a day before the official festival, brought together families and community members, reinforcing the traditional values of protection and kinship.
