Another doctor detained over suspected links with Dr. Shaheen ahead of Delhi car blast

In a deepening twist to the Red Fort car blast that shattered Delhi's historic heart on November 10, killing nine and several critically injured in a suicide-driven inferno, authorities have detained Dr. Mohammad Arif from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, after uncovering frantic digital exchanges with the enigmatic Dr. Shaheen just hours before the white Hyundai i20's deadly detonation near Lal Qila Metro Station. Arif, known in his hometown for free clinics and community outreach, was swooped up today late night, his phone yielding a trove of encrypted messages that paint a picture of coordinated panic and covert plotting amid the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) relentless unraveling of a "white-collar" terror cell infiltrating medical circles. As per reports his chats with Dr Shaheen was surfaced during investigation—escalated post the arrests of Al Falah University colleagues Dr. Muzammil Shakeel and Dr. Adil Rather, suggesting Arif's role as a logistical whisperer in the shadows of radicalization, where stethoscopes doubled as signals for sabotage.

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the Delhi Police Special Cell, Jammu and Kashmir Police detained Dr Mohammad Arif from Kanpur’s Cardiology Institute. The Kanpur-based doctor was reportedly in contact with Dr Shaheen Saeed and is currently being interrogated by the UP ATS. NIA sleuths, tipped by metadata from Umar Mohammad's scorched device, traced Arif's number through telecom towers linking Kanpur to Delhi's mosque circuits, where CCTV had earlier ghosted Umar's three-hour prayer vigil. The probe's momentum, fueled by nearly 3,000 kg of seized ammonium nitrate from Faridabad, underscores a chilling pattern: educated extremists leveraging licenses for lethal access.

Families of the blast's victims—caught in the crossfire—clamor for closure, their vigils at Red Fort's bloodied gates now laced with demands for de-radicalization drives in academia. For India, this saga transcends one scorched sedan; it's a siren on societal fissures where ambition meets animosity, urging a healer's oath to extend beyond bodies to the body politic. With Shaheen's shadow lengthening and Arif's silence under the grill, the fort's ramparts stand sentinel to a story still smoldering, a reminder that terror's tendrils twist through the unlikeliest veins.
