In yet another incident of mob violence, a mother-son duo was brutally thrashed in Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. According to reports, the event reportedly took place on Sunday, though its CCTV footage emerged on Tuesday.
In this incident, a mother and her son were beaten in Ariadaha, North 24 Parganas. Both victims are currently receiving treatment at a local private hospital.
The CCTV footage, released on Tuesday, shows several individuals assaulting the mother and son on the street. It is alleged that the assailants are locals, most of whom are politically associated. The release of this video has reignited tensions in the district.
A senior officer of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, speaking anonymously, confirmed that the police have obtained the CCTV footage and are investigating the matter. The victim's family will be contacted, and if necessary, a case will be registered against the attackers.
