Anubrata Mondal, on way to Kolkata, met two mysterious men; raises concern

Trinamool leader Anubrata Mondal, who has been in the Asansol Central Jail since his arrest by the CBI in August 2022 for his alleged involvement in a high-profile cattle smuggling case, is currently being escorted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Delhi. Following court orders, he was transferred from the Asansol Central Jail to Kolkata on Tuesday, which coincided with the Bengali Holi festival.

However, during the journey from Asansol to Kolkata, the police stopped the vehicle at a famous shop in Shaktigarh, known for its Lengcha sweets, where Mondal had breakfast with two suspicious individuals. Some are raising concerns about this meeting, as it was not disclosed to the court.Anuvrat Mandal ate four Kachoris, Chola, Special Lencha, and Rajbhog, and shared a table with a young man in a t-shirt and another in a green Punjabi. During the meal, they conversed while the police kept a distance.

The food bill of Rs. 995 was paid by the young man wearing a green Punjabi, whose identity remains unknown to the ED or the police. The employee of the shop, Sheikh Kamrul Haq, confirmed the incident but did not provide any further information. As a result, the Asansol Police Commissionerate is under scrutiny for the lack of transparency surrounding this meeting. Nevertheless, the identity of the two youths remains a mystery.
