Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
Amid swirling speculations of alliance talks with the DMK-led by CM M K Stalin, Kamal Haasan addressed the media, refuting claims that Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has joined the opposition INDIA bloc. Haasan, speaking at the 7th-anniversary celebrations of MNM in Chennai, stated that while political alliance discussions were ongoing, his party would support any bloc that prioritizes the nation's welfare in a selfless manner.
Asked if MNM will join the INDIA bloc, Kamal Haasan said, "I have already told, this is the time when you have to blur party politics and think about the nation. Anybody who thinks selflessly about the nation, my MNM will be part of it."
Responding to queries about joining the INDIA bloc, Kamal Haasan clarified that he has not joined the grouping. MNM, founded on February 21, 2018, positions itself as a centrist party, focusing on social justice, economic development, and environmental sustainability. Despite its commitment to providing an alternative to dominant Dravidian parties, MNM faced challenges in making a significant impact during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and state assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
Haasan acknowledged ongoing discussions about potential political alliances ahead of the upcoming general elections and assured the media that any positive developments would be communicated promptly.
