No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
The Calcutta High Court has granted conditional bail to Jayanta Singh, a man infamous in the Ariadaha area as the local 'terror'. The bail was sanctioned by Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with organized crime cases.
However, despite the High Court's order, Singh will not be released from custody immediately as he remains incarcerated in connection with another pending case. Jayanta Singh faces multiple charges across various cases, primarily involving assault and other serious complaints.
The conditional bail granted today pertains to just one of these specific cases. One of the most significant conditions imposed by the court is a complete prohibition on Singh's entry into the jurisdiction of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
Furthermore, the court explicitly directed Singh to cooperate fully with the investigation in the case for which he received bail. He is also strictly prohibited from attempting to influence or tamper with witnesses or evidence related to the case.
Jayanta Singh was arrested following a shocking incident in the Ariadaha Kedarnath Singh Road area under Belgharia police station limits. Singh and his associates were accused of severely assaulting a mother and two young men in a drunken rage during the late hours of the night. Following his arrest, a series of disturbing allegations and videos emerged, including footage showing Singh and his gang allegedly administering a "Talibani-style" beating to a person at the Taltala Sporting Club.
