Former MP Arjun Singh has on Wednesday claimed that in Maniktala a lot of fake voting has been done. He accused the election commission of being completely inactive. "We have seen through webcast that the same person is going to the booth four to five times and casting his vote," said the BJP leader.
This accusation comes amid the ongoing voting for assembly bypoll in the Maniktala seat. The seat was vacated after the demise of Sadhan Pandey. Meanwhile, Shreya Pandey, who came to vote at Bhavtaran Vidyalaya, said that it is her good fortune that for so many years she has voted for her family members. "First my father and now my mother, TMC will win 100 percent", said Shreya.
Voting is underway on 4 Assembly seats - Maniktala, Bagda, Raiganj and Ranaghat-Dakshin. While Maniktala's seat was vacated after Sadhan Pandey's death, the other three were the reason for defection. All 3 seats were won by the BJP in 2021.
