In a startling incident aboard the Sealdah- Rajdhani Express, a 41-year-old man, identified as Harvinder Singh and reportedly an Indian Army personnel, opened fire after a dispute with the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE). Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported during the incident, according to a statement by the Eastern Railway.
The altercation began when the man, who had boarded the B-8 coach of the 12313 UP Sealdah - New Delhi Rajdhani Express at Dhanbad, was found to have an improper ticket. He had purchased a ticket for the Howrah - New Delhi Rajdhani Express but mistakenly boarded the Sealdah - New Delhi Rajdhani Express. This confusion led to a confrontation with the TTE.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) escorting the train acted swiftly and apprehended the armed passenger, ensuring the safety of all on board. The incident took place without causing harm to any passengers or railway staff.Following the incident, the disruptive passenger was deboarded at Koderma station and subsequently handed over to the local state police. It is yet to be determined whether charges will be filed against him for his actions.
The Eastern Railway has issued an appeal to all passengers, urging them to ensure they board the correct train with a valid ticket to avoid such incidents in the future.
