Tremors rock Kolkata as 5.6-magnitude earthquake strikes Bhutan
A major recovery of illegal weapons and narcotic substances in Thakurnagar of North 24 Parganas triggered panic in the locality on Tuesday morning. The incident took place in the Phoolbazar area, where sharp weapons, illegal arms, cannabis, and other narcotics were recovered during a search operation carried out amid allegations from local residents.
According to local claims, the accused, identified as Suraj Bain, had been allegedly involved in drug trafficking and other anti-social activities for a long time. Acting on these allegations, residents searched his shop, leading to the recovery of multiple weapons including ramdaos and bhujalis, along with a significant quantity of prohibited substances.
Police from Gaighata police station, along with central forces, reached the spot following the incident and brought the situation under control. The accused is currently absconding, and a search operation has been launched to trace him as investigations continue.
