Army Agniveer killed, two injured in landmine blast along LoC in J&K's Poonch

An Indian Army Agniveer was killed and two other soldiers sustained injuries on Friday following a landmine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. The tragic incident occurred in the general area of Krishna Ghati brigade when the soldiers were conducting an area domination patrol, inadvertently stepping on the hidden explosive device.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Agniveer Lalit Kumar of the 7 JAT Regiment. The Indian Army's White Knight Corps confirmed his supreme sacrifice, issuing a heartfelt tribute on X (formerly Twitter). "GOC #WhiteKnightCorps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Agniveer Lalit Kumar of 7 JAT Regiment, who made the supreme sacrifice... following a mine blast. We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief," the post read. The two injured soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), have been admitted to a military hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Landmine explosions continue to pose a significant threat to security forces operating in the treacherous terrains along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Such incidents underscore the inherent dangers faced by personnel engaged in maintaining vigilance and safeguarding national borders.
