A serious road accident took place on Kolkata’s Maa Flyover on Tuesday morning, due to rain on the night before after an Indian Army truck lost control, jumped the central divider and landed in the opposite lane. The incident caused panic among commuters and led to temporary traffic disruption on the busy stretch.
According to reports, the heavy vehicle was travelling from Science City towards Park Circus when it skidded on the rain-soaked road. The driver reportedly lost control due to slippery conditions, causing the truck to cross over the divider and crash violently. Two of the three soldiers travelling in the truck sustained injuries in the accident. Personnel from Kolkata Police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured soldiers and shifted them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, leaving the front portion of the truck completely damaged. Traffic movement on the flyover remained disrupted for a considerable time before being restored after a crane was deployed to remove the damaged vehicle.
