Bengal govt launches ‘Apnar Sarkar, Apnar Pashe’ portal for welfare and public service complaints
Fresh political speculation erupted in Birbhum after saffron flags were spotted outside the residence of senior Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal in Bolpur’s Nichupatti area. The development came days after Mondal publicly expressed dissatisfaction over certain party-related issues, prompting questions about whether the veteran leader was considering a political realignment. The appearance of the flags quickly triggered discussion and speculation across the region.
According to local sources, a flagpole outside Mondal’s residence has traditionally displayed the Trinamool Congress flag. Late on Friday night, saffron-coloured flags were allegedly seen hanging from the flag stand as well as on walls near the house. News of the incident spread rapidly, drawing attention from local residents and political observers.
The incident gained additional significance because of the ongoing political turbulence within the Trinamool Congress following the West Bengal Assembly elections. Several MLAs and MPs have publicly distanced themselves from sections of the party leadership, leading to heightened scrutiny of any developments involving senior party figures. The sudden appearance of saffron flags outside Mondal’s residence led to speculation that the longtime Birbhum leader could be preparing to join the BJP camp.
The flags were reportedly removed later on Saturday morning. Responding to the controversy, Anubrata Mondal denied any change in his political affiliation. He stated that he remains a member of the Trinamool Congress, has not joined any other political party, and has not been removed from the organisation. Mondal alleged that unidentified individuals deliberately placed the flags outside his residence to create confusion and generate political controversy.
