Abhishek Banerjee lands at Kolkata Airport to appear before CID
Trinamool Congress MP Saayoni Ghosh returned to Kolkata on Thursday afternoon amid continuing speculation over her political position within the party. Reports linking her to a group of rebel MPs have fueled discussion in political circles, particularly after claims emerged that she had signed documents associated with the dissident camp. However, Saayoni has not made any public statement regarding the allegations.
The speculation intensified after reports suggested that several leaders considered close to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee had joined the rebel camp. Saayoni's name was also mentioned in those reports despite her recent appointment as Youth President in the party's newly constituted committee. Her absence from public political activity and reported lack of visibility in party WhatsApp groups further contributed to questions about her current role within the organisation.
Following internal developments within the party, Mamata Banerjee reportedly dissolved existing committees and announced a new organisational structure. In that reshuffle, Saayoni Ghosh was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the party's youth wing, a move widely seen as a sign of continued confidence in her by the party leadership. Subsequently, reports emerged claiming that her name appeared among MPs associated with the dissident faction and that she had allegedly signed a letter submitted to the Lok Sabha Speaker. Despite the growing speculation, Saayoni has remained silent and has not publicly addressed the reports.
