Shubhman Gill slams maiden Test 200 in 311 balls against England
State Library Minister Siddiqullah Chowdhury faced a protest from his own party members during his visit to Maldanga in Manteswar on Thursday morning. Around 10 AM, upon his arrival, local Gram Panchayat Pradhan Rafiqul Islam Sheikh and other Trinamool Congress workers showed him black flags and raised slogans such as "Fraud, Cheater, Extortionist." The minister briefly turned back in response to the agitation.
Siddiqullah Chowdhury later alleged that the protest was not peaceful and that an attempt was made to physically attack him. He claimed that Trinamool's block president Ahmed Hossain was behind the protest and that a group of people advanced toward him during the incident. "At the time of the incident, the police remained silent. They could have removed the protesters but did not," the minister said. He also stated that the group was mobilised with the knowledge of party leadership.
Gram Panchayat chief Rafiqul Islam Sheikh said, “We have a minister here who only understands extortion. Five years have passed, and we received no help. Some people need ration, others need certificates. But people were deprived of both.” He further added that Siddiqullah had returned after four years, accompanied by outsiders, and accused him of acting like a middleman instead of fulfilling his ministerial duties.
