CPI(M) leader beaten on road in Kharagpur for protesting wall demolition, shirt torn
Metro services were hit once more soon after resuming operations. This time, a passenger jumped onto the up-line tracks at Belgachia Metro Station, causing fresh disruption to train movement.
Earlier in the day, services had already been affected due to waterlogging caused by rain. Rainwater had entered the tracks between Chandni Chowk and Central metro stations, halting services at these stations for around two hours. Services were restored around 11 AM after the tracks were cleared.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 11:20 AM when the passenger jumped in front of a moving train at Belgachia station. Metro personnel and emergency teams rushed to the spot. Efforts were made to rescue the individual from the tracks, though the person's condition has not been officially confirmed yet.
As a result, services between Shyambazar and Dakshineswar have been temporarily suspended. At present, metro trains are running only between Girish Park and Kavi Subhash.
