ED brought Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the Rouse Avenue court on Friday, presenting him as the key conspirator in the Delhi liquor policy scam. ASG SV Raju seeking a 10-day remand for Kejriwal, alleged that Kejriwal was involved in the use of the proceeds of the crime and was directly involved in the formulation of the policy.
According to the ED, Vijay Nair, a close associate of Kejriwal, acted as the intermediary between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the influential 'south cartel,' led by K Kavitha. The ED asserted that Kejriwal demanded kickbacks amounting to ₹100 crore from the South group for the Punjab elections.
Furthermore, the agency disclosed that the illicit funds, estimated at around ₹45 crores, were allegedly channeled by the AAP for its Goa campaign during 2021-22. The ED further adds that Kejriwal himself met with Kavitha, proposing a collaborative effort on the controversial liquor policy. ED said they have corroboration of everything they are saying.
